~ take care ~

Your fibers have been through a lot.
Here’s how to care for them once they get home.

SHAPE - Don’t be afraid to touch. Once your piece is situated in its final (for now) resting place, feel free to tug and pull sides/edges until it looks right. For layered pieces, begin with the layer closest to the wall and continue situating layers on top.

TEXTURE - If your piece has texture or raised fibers, use your hands (or something with a straight edge) to cup or line the shape, and gently guide the fibers back into their original form. You’ll notice the textures can also be flattened or smoothed out, forming a slightly flatter, looser shape. Your piece is yours to touch and sculpt, so let it assume whatever shape feels right for you.

TASSELS - Tassels will easily return to their original shape with a few gentle shakes. We like to reshape long, loose fringe starting from the back, lightly tapping and fluffing it forward to loosen up the fibers and regain some volume. You can run your hands through the strands or use a fork to ~ comb ~ out tangles and feel like Ariel / a fiber goddess / both. Tassels can be flattened out against the wall to form a wider, flatter shape, or consolidated and fluffed for a more voluminous form. Owner’s preference.

We all change, and so does your silk. Sunlight will affect the color and vibrancy over time—a beautiful evolution to parallel yours. But if you wish to avoid this, keep your silk in a shaded space.

Silk can be washed in room temperature water with a pH neutral soap (most mild, unscented dish soaps). Try to avoid shocking the fabric with hot or cold water.

Wrinkles can be worked with a steamer (keep at least six inches away from fabric) or the steam from a warm shower. Keep your silk hung up for wrinkles to fall naturally.
