balance
balance
Yin and yang, the Daoist concept of dualism, expresses the interconnectedness of the natural world and our place in it.
Moon and sun, dark and light, old and young, all things exist as inseparable, complementary forces. None of these forms can occur in isolation, each carries the seed of its opposite. And neither side can exist without the other: there is no heat without cold, hard without soft, there cannot be shadow without light.
The nature of yang (top) and yin (bottom) means the position of these contradictory forces also holds meaning.
~ In order and FLOW, the white male form rises while the black female form returns to earth, grounded.
~ EBB and chaos are expressed in the reverse—white masculine base, black feminine rising.
All lives endure these forces in tandem: the waxing and waning of chaos and order. Both variants are available here in fibrous form with the hopes of helping us find balance, whichever way we’re needing it right now.
